Video explains how patients can find a family doctor

"Wow, the website is so easy to use and is very clear and eye-pleasing." - Patient

A new video that explains how Albertans can find a family doctor at the click of a button has been released by the province's Primary Care Networks.

More than 30,000 Albertans visited between April and June 2019 following the launch of the website. More people are logging on each day -- via their mobile device, tablet or desktop computer -- to find out which physicians are accepting new patients in their area. Research shows that patients who regularly visit a family doctor and team are healthier, live longer and are hospitalized less.

Alberta Find a Doctor, a service developed by Primary Care Networks in partnership with family doctors and Alberta Health Services, brings together separate services that previously existed in Calgary, Edmonton and other parts of the province. The website lists doctors by location and, where possible, by gender and languages spoken. It is free to use and can also be accessed by calling Health Link 811.

Because the new website is interactive, there are no delays or long waits. The listings are updated regularly to ensure data and listings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.
